Do you deliver in bags?
We do not bag our products, however we can refer you to other companies who carry select Western Canada Garden Soil products in bags. Please contact us for more information.
-
How do I store products after delivery?
Customers often prefer to have a tarp on the ground when we deliver. This makes it easy to fold the tarp over the pile (or cover with a second tarp) in the event of poor weather or if a product cannot be moved in a timely manner.

Should I use Garden Mix or Compost to top dress my lawn?
When filling in holes or levelling your lawn, you may use our Garden Mix and then overseed. However, for top dressing, pure compost should be used.
What is the best technique to top dress my lawn, and should I overseed as well? Though not necessary, overseeding is a good way to keep a lawn thick and to discourage weeds. Our suggested method is to first evenly overseed the lawn and then top dress it with about 3/8" of compost. This helps to keep the seeds moist so they can germinate easily.
Technique for top dressing:
Start by top dressing your lawn with about 3/8" of compost on the furthest, least accessible spot in your yard and work your way back, avoiding trampling the newly spread compost. This will ensure the grass will grow through it faster and more uniformly. A wheelbarrow, large shovel, and a rake are our preferred tools. Lightly toss the compost in a broad cast onto your lawn with the shovel and then rake it in. We recommend shovelling out about one full wheelbarrow and then switching to the rake, working one section at a time. After top dressing, give your lawn a thorough watering to help settle the compost in. By watering regularly in the days that follow, the grass seed will stay moist and the compost will begin to work its way down to the roots. If properly applied and watered in, within a week the compost should be barely visible and instead you will begin to notice the transformation into lush green grass.

Are you able to bring multiple products on the same truck?
Yes, this is what we refer to as a split load. Our single axle truck is equipped with seven compartments that allow us to bring any or all of our products to you in one delivery and dump them in separate piles. It can also be used to dump piles of the same product in different locations. For example, if you want some compost in the front and some in the back lane it's no problem at all. However, you will need to advise us when you are ordering if you would like this service, because it requires more scheduling and planning when it is loaded at our yard. As such, we charge an additional $30 per split delivery.

How much product can you deliver in one truckload?
We have four different delivery vehicles in the Western Canada Garden Soil fleet: 2 single axle trucks and 2 larger tandem axle trucks. Our single axle trucks can carry 15 yards of Compost, 10 yards of Garden Mix or 25 yards of Mulch. The tandem axle trucks can carry 30 yards of Compost, 22 yards of Garden Mix or 30 yards of Mulch. During the drier months we are able to carry slightly larger loads due to the reduced weight.
